The Fundació Privada Pere Closa is a non-profit Rroma organization that works in different locations in Catalonia to promote the educational success of Rroma children and youth, as well as those who are not Rroma and are in a situation of social and educational vulnerability.

On December 4th, the Fundació Privada Pere Closa, thanks to the support of the Nando and Elsa Peretti - Delegació a Catalunya, has organized the event “Our theatre: towards a Rromani dramaturgy” at Llibrería Byron in Barcelona. The event delved into Rromani dramaturgy from a historical, reflective and emotional perspective, with the presence of Francisco Suárez Montaño, playwright and stage director. Thanks to more than forty plays, Francisco invited to understand theatre as an evocative and vindictive instrument as stated by Sebastián Porras Soto, member of the board of trustees of Fundació Privada Pere Closa: “the art of theater has the power to summon on stage ideas and emotions that belong to the hearts of all men. This sacred place is where our identity and culture are shared, to recognize each other. In the last forty years, in Spain, Rroma dramaturgy has been incorporated in its own right, by the hands of performers, authors and directors, to the cultural heritage of this country”. On this occasion, the public had the opportunity to meet a wide variety of cultural references as well as to explore the identity and history of the Rroma people.
